Adding an End of Life date to an Asset

The End of Life (EoL) type for an asset is defined in the product the asset is using.

Let's add an End of Life date to the asset below, a Macbook Pro 16" with the Asset ID 100009. Start by clicking on the product of the asset.

Now, click on the Edit button.

Scroll down on the page until you see the End of Life Type section.

There are three End of Life types in BlueTally:

  • Fixed Date: This will set the End of Life Date to be the same for all assets using a product.

  • Months from Asset Purchase Date: This will set the End of Life Date to be a number of months from the Purchase Date of the assets using a product.

  • Individual per Asset: This will let you set the End of Life Date individually for all assets using a product.

You can set a default EoL type and Number Months from Asset Purchase Date by going to Settings -> Company Details.

Fixed Date

If you select the Fixed Date option, you'll see an End of Life date field appear on the screen. The date you enter here will be the End of Life date for all assets using this product.

Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on Save. Then, click on the Assets tab to view the list of all assets using this product.

As you can see, all assets using this product now have their End of Life date set to the date we added earlier.

And if you now click on the asset we started with (#100009), you can see that the End of Life date is also visible there as well.

Months from Asset Purchase Date

If you select the Months from Asset Purchase Date option, you'll see a End of Life (Number of months from Asset Purchase Date) number field appear on the screen. The number of months you enter here will be added to the purchase date of all assets using this product to make the End of Life Date.

For example, if you enter 12 here, and you have two assets using this product with the following Purchase Date's set, their End of Life Date's will automatically be set to the following:

Purchase Date

End of Life Date

15/01/2022

15/01/2023

22/04/2023

22/04/2024

Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on Save. Then, click on the Assets tab to view the list of all assets using this product.

As you can see, the assets using this product now have their End of Life dates set to 12 months after their purchase date. If an asset using the product doesn't have a purchase date set, the End of Life date will be empty.

And if you now click on the asset we started with (#100009), you can see that the End of Life date is also visible there as well.

Individual per Asset

If you select the Individual per Asset option, an End of Life date field will appear on all assets using this product.

Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on Save. Then, click on the Assets tab to view the list of all assets using this product.

As you can see, an End of Life date field is now blank for all the assets using this products, as it needs to be set individually for each asset.

To set the End of Life date for an asset, click on it, then click on Edit Asset. Scroll down on the page until you see the End of Life Date field. Set the EoL date you want here, then scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on Save.

As you can see, the End of Life date is now visible for the asset.
